An Unusual Point of View
11September 8, 2013 by Jess
Each and every one of us has a point of view. In fact our opinions are often shaped by the circumstances we find around us. Different life stages may bring forth different points of view. Photography too is shaped by the point of view. This weeks photo challenge is…
SHARE A PHOTO WITH AN UNUSUAL POINT OF VIEW
After a lunchtime discussion regarding what a ‘point of view’ was the we headed off for a bit of an explore to challenge our current point of view.
A trip to a cemetery, even an old one, is a sobering reality. Reading the ages of those who have died and at times the numbers from one family dying in a short space of time makes one all the more aware of death. And yet amongst the grave stones are inscriptions that bring hope. Inscriptions that speak of the hope of resurrection, that this is not the end… “waiting”.
Our favourite, that was not so easy to capture on camera…
I LIVE BY CHRIST, DIED IN CHRIST,
AND NOW I LIVE WITH CHRIST.
THUS I LIVED TO DIE AND I DIED TO LIVE.
What a point of view! I would love that to be the statement of my life.

That’s a great point of view. Truth in a few short words
It’s a great place to wander and gain perspective!

After many visits to my family’s cemetery I have once discovered an old gravestone with an engraving grown with moss, and the moss was reading/saying something like “pray for me” – it is in the fourth photo of the post here.
thanks for touching the essence of poetry, see my reflection on Making time visible
We saw gravestones with similar engravings. In many ways I found these sad as there is little we can do for those that are not resting in Christ before death. They did, however, serve as a reminder to pray that the living would find their rest, hope and life in Christ before all that is left is a plea on a gravestone.
