Hi!

Welcome to “…illuminating the invisible…”

Many know me as Jess, wife of Mark and stay-at-home mother to four fun kids.   However, first and foremost I am a child of God.  I have been rescued from a life enslaved to my own efforts to be right, instead looking to Jesus Christ, who through His death and resurrection purchased righteousness for me. This has radically transformed my life, bringing me into relationship with God forever, which also equips me and re-orientates how I live here and now.  I grow in this relationship more each day, knowing more and more of the treasures that are mine as a daughter of the King.

This blog is the story of how my relationship with Christ changes how I see the world and the way I enjoy it.   In recent years I have come to see how self oriented I am and how much time I spend complaining (whether aloud or not) because I do not have the many things I dream I am entitled to.  Before all I could see was how broken everything in this world is, and failed to see the glimmers of hope and of God himself that are all around.  I am so grateful that God intervened opening my eyes to the truths of Romans 1:20 (the Bible).

For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

(Romans 1:19-21 ESV)

He helped me to see that in my complaining heart, that failed to give thanks, I was becoming futile in thinking, my heart was darkened and I was miserable because I was living as if I was far from God.   Here I was a child of God not seeing what He had placed plainly for all to see.  As He opened my eyes through His Word (the Bible) he  showed me more of who He is and more of who I am as His child.  In the process he has opened my eyes to see how he has left throughout this earth testimonies of his eternal power and divine nature.  I see in day to day life, in the everyday and in the beautiful, stories that give physical glimpses of what he reveals in His Word.  This is where the photography comes in.  I have always enjoyed creative expression. Photography has been a small part of that.  Desiring to appreciate and give thanks for the glimpses of His power and nature I realised that in order to do that well, I needed to slow down and notice.  Photography has become a tool that helps me do that.

The heart of this blog is a place to share this appreciation, some of the glimpses of what he reveals in His world through His Word.  On these pages I wish to share my glimpses of what might otherwise go un-noticed, the invisible, through word and photo and in the process share something of our Creator God.   I hope this is a place where together we can catch glimpses of Him, His eternal power and divine nature, to delight in Him, give thanks to Him and give Him all glory & honour.

It is my prayer that you grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ as you journey here.

Thanks for stopping by as we seek to ‘illuminate the invisible’
