Walking along the beach in the fading light one would assume we were at days end, ready to pack up and head for home. Only this time, we had just arrived, and the whole afternoon stretched before us. My daughter had planned this spot for our Mum and daughter date for a long time. Her camera was at the ready for some photo fun. And photo fun it was. The sky was dark and ominous while the brilliant orange light disappearing beyond the horizon reflected beautifully in the damp sand.
As we delighted and enjoyed the beauty on display for us I couldn’t help but think of these words from God’s word about a different source of midday light when the sun is no more.
The sun shall be no more
your light by day,
nor for brightness shall the moon
but the Lord will be your everlasting light,
Isaiah 60:19 [ESV]
If we were delighting in the brilliance of yesterday’s light, how much more delight will their be in the everlasting light? O to know Him more.
