The beautiful warm day was a pleasant change from a week of indoor activities. This was a great opportunity for some family time in the great outdoors. Our destination was decided by vote. Miss Five led the charge for a climb of Harbour Cone. Her recent school trip to the Art Gallery had looked at a number of depictions of this icon on the Otago Peninsula and they were challenged to go climb it. So here we were.
What a fabulous walk amongst spectacular artistry. The sky was full of expression, bringing depth to otherwise ordinary pictures of green fields and sheep.
For I know that the Lord is great,
and that our Lord is above all gods.
Whatever the Lord pleases, he does,
in heaven and on earth,
in the seas and all deeps.
He it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth,
who makes lightnings for the rain
and brings forth the wind from his storehouses.
The artistry evident today was simple beautiful.
The dark clouds holding the light at bay, yet even in the gloom there was layers of shape and texture. Magnificent artwork at the hands of the Magnificent Artist.
As I spend time delighting in His artistic expression in the clouds I can’t help but wonder about his promises that relate to clouds.
Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him…
As I delight in these clouds, will these also be the clouds that bring my Saviour? The return of the one who made them all. He is the one who placed them there to make known His invisible attributes, the one whose death made a way for people to have relationship with King of Kings and the one who will return bringing His kingdom in power and glory.
As you marvel at the clouds, consider… are you ready to delight in the return of the Son of God?
