We ran away to the mountains, the great Southern Divide, for just one night. Two days, one night enjoying the majestic scenes of autumn in Wanaka. A trip to enjoy the beauty of the mountains by day and their grandeur by night as the sun slowly fades, leaving reflections of light on the lake below.
Mountains seem so steadfast and strong. Compared with the ever changing coast near where we live these mountains maintain their strong presence from season to season. It’s as if they have been here forever. Yet these mountains point to one older. They have been brought forth, the earth formed by His hands.
Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.
Before the mountains were brought forth,
or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
Psalm 90:1-2 ESV
From everlasting to everlasting He is God. We walk and talk, we run and play, we take photos and delight in these mountains all the time remembering that as grand as they are they point to something greater. What is greater than an amazing mountain scene? The artist who made it and the many ways these mountains will display His glory from generation to generation.
