…the image of the invisible God, he was there before anything else. He is God. He made all things in heaven and on earth, what we can see and things we cannot. He is…Jesus Christ.
Take a moment to ponder these pictures and grapple with the visible and invisible within these. He made them all.
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
Colossians 1:15-20 NIV
All this was created by Him but also for Him. Everything in these pictures is here for a purpose, for His purpose. In fact, it is only in him that these things hold together. He is the Supreme One.
He also was the firstborn from the dead, the first one to raise to new life, leading the way into a new life reconciled to God. He is the one through whom ALL THINGS, on earth and in heaven will be reconciled to God, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross. All that is broken, decaying, failing to last, in these pictures will be reconciled to God because Christ has made peace through his blood, shed on the cross. When Christ, this supreme one, returns we will see ALL THINGS restored proclaiming His glory without hindrance. He will truly have the supremacy in everything and we, who have been reconciled to God, will delight to worship Him who delights to share His inheritance with us.
Join with me today in marvelling at who He is, what He has done and is doing. Take some time to worship Him as he reveals himself in the Bible and in His creation. If you have never done this before find the Bible online and start reading the gospel of Mark. Make today the day you discover more of this one who is the image of the invisible God. May He be Supreme in your life.
