I am thankful for unexpected, undeserved favour, moments of grace that reflect greater Grace.
This photo was a fabulous gift, a moment that could easily have been missed, overlooked in the bustle of an evening. It was the light that attracted me. The bird, along with the clutter of ugly buildings frustrated my quest to capture the beauty. Determined I zoomed in, I even said. “get-away bird”, before I realised the gift. Suddenly through the viewer I could see the potential. The bird part of the beauty, no longer in the way.
Likewise the cross. A seemingly ugly moment of defeat made beautiful and glorious as Christ arose from death. The cross was not in the way of glory, it was part of the glory. The glory of the cross is Jesus, Son of God, who conquered death in order to show rich grace to us who would trust him.
Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. [Ephesians 2:4-7]
I am thankful for every glimpse into incomparable riches of His grace.
