Weekly Photo Challenge: Green
5November 18, 2012 by JesstheMess
Green, it reminds me of passing seasons. It is spring here in New Zealand and we have plenty of lush green inspiration. But the reality is that much that is green today will wither and fade. In human lives as well, there are green seasons of growth mixed with seasons where we seem to fade.
The past few day has been a fresh reminder, as I watch dear friends enter a time of health related struggle. Yet, as an onlooker I am reminded that for those that trust in the LORD, these times are also times of growth. Reading God’s Word this morning I was reminded that the person who trusts in the LORD need not fear the heat (hard times) nor be anxious about drought (barren times) for their root is well established. The picture is of a tree by a stream that continues to bear fruit because its roots tap an endless source of water. Those who trust the LORD have an endless source of grace that means they will continue to flourish and bear fruit even in the midst of struggle.
Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8 ESV
Or put another way….
Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf. Proverbs 11:28 ESV
Today’s green photo’s are reminding me who to trust.
